Will the world ever be safe and secure? “Peace on Earth”

Will the World ever be safe and secure?

Leviticus 25:18-19 18 “Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land. 19 Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety”. When God’s people turned away from Him, their safety was threatened, and the result was disaster.

The Global risks report 2018 world economic forum identifies that, the 21st century generations enjoys extraordinary technological, scientific, and financial resource, hence, live the generation that will take the world to the brink of political, economic, and environmental system breakdown. Cyber-crime, financial inequality, conflict and persecution and threats to the environment, are all challenges   facing our future and the Earth.

So that we could solve the many problems that rob us of our peace, security and future, we should effectively address the root of the problems and not the symptoms. Take for instance, when a government is fighting a crime, they pass law, install video surveillance and strengthen police forces. However, these measures could only be effective to a certain extent not addressing the underlying causes. One thing we should note is that, behavior usually reflect attitude, beliefs and desires.

In Genesis 8:21 21 “The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done”.  And in Jeremiah 17:9 the bible also tells us 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” The big issue is that, mankind has been unable to find a cure for the hurtful traits that lurk within us and the traits are getting worse. Having all the available information of today, yet, we cannot communicate with others 2 Timothy 3:1-5 3 “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of Godliness but denying its power. Therefore, have nothing to do with such people”.

Even though, by some miracles we cure mankind’s hurtful traits, we would still not be able to make the world a safe and secure place due to our human limitations. The key vital issue to note about people again, is their unacceptance of their equals or others telling them how to live their life or which moral values to live by or how to punish their children. Hence these are the issues that divide us.  We should all ask ourselves; who do we turn to? Of ‘course to our creator, God Himself. He made us and with his concern for us he gave us his only begotten son Jesus Christ and the unique book the Bible. The bible wisdom protects us Luke 7:35 35 “But wisdom is proved right by all her children.”

Putting your trust in your pension or bank account cannot guarantee a good retirement, the bible gives us hope and protect us from unrealistic expectations Isiah 2:22 22 Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils”. Why hold them in esteem? The bible helps us cultivate the qualities which are Goodness, Kindness and Love. Therefore, we should all see our bible as a mirror that when we look into it, we clearly see our limitations and weakness James 1:23-25 23 “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do”.
