The greatest gift my mother gave me is God.

I grew up to the understanding of a single mum. I lost my dad at the age of 3 years and was single handily raised by a single mum. The road was weary and though, yet God had never left us once. “The greatest gift my mother gave is knowing God” Philippians 4:1 “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work”.

Being a single mother of three beautiful children had tested her physical and emotional strength and ability to manage her personal life. There were times where she felt overwhelmed hardship of not having a second income and pressure of being single hence, she gave the greatest gift (GOD). Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”. When you hear about a single mother what do you think? People may think first, a rebellions kids however, my mothers’ case is different. In her you see an independent woman who is confident in her children and in her job. You will not see my mother too depressed to care for us or desperate for money. Nevertheless, the greatest gift she gave me is God.

Knowing God is the instruction concerning God” or “the deliberation of God. It endeavours to disclose the identity of God, the habitation of God, and the character, origin, position and importance of God. Three ways humans commonly acquire information are: through their senses, through their logic/reasoning, and through their faith which denotes confidence in the information given by another. Knowing God is a reflection of our Christian journey for allowing God to use us. As God begins to direct our path daily it will show in our character in our morals, in how we relate to other, in our pray life, a real desire to love all people, our personality will be a representation of the Lord, the way walk is different, the way and talk differently. A healthy, vibrant, growing and happy Christian life requires a regular routine of communion with God through prayer, study His Word, and in Christian service to mankind “That’s my Mother”.

The fundamental difference between knowing about God and knowing God is about personal relationships. Which is the greatest treasury my mother gave me. God is a person, you can know ‘about’ him, but you don’t really ‘know’ him until you have a personal relationship, get to know him and reveal things to each other John 14:6-9.  6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. 7 “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” 9 “Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father”? Therefore Brethren, change that right now by obeying the gospel of Christ in faith & allowing God to come into your life (Gal. 3:26-27).
