How do we know God? How do you know what you can’t see?
John 3:8 “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So, it is with everyone born of the Spirit” for those of us that do know him it is a huge challenge to be able to describe to other people what it means to know God. Many people come to church and learn about God, but they do not know God. You can know about God without knowing God and if all you do is known about God, then you are going to be lost, but if you know God, then you will love God, because no one can truly know him without loving him because God is love. And if you love God, you’re going to trust God, because when you see how much he loves you, it will be easy for you to then trust him. And when you trust him, you’re going to obey him, and when we obey him you are going to be blessed.
God’s name is Jehovah; Psalm 83:18 “Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord that you alone are the Highest over all the earth”. Jehovah (God) deep meanings are; God fulfil any promise he makes, and nothing can stop him. God wants us to become his friend, and to know him. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him and use his name. Though he is not far from any one of us he wants us to draw close to him and he will draw close to us James 8: 4 “Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded”.
You can become Gods friend by learning about him, knowing that he (God) is love you can learn more about God by reading your bible… Gods qualities are that; He is meaningful and compassionate, slow to anger, abundant in loyal love and truth, he is a good God, always ready to forgive Psalm 86:5 “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you”. If you read your bible, you will get to know God as a real man. Reading your bible will make you love him more and more and feel closer to him Psalm 27:4 “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple”.
As you study the bible, you will get to know that God wants you to be his friend and the more you learn about him the stronger your relationship will be with him. The Bible is inspired by God 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” God wants you to read it, study it and love it. Your deepest thoughts and feelings can be understood by reading your bible and you will understand Gods purpose for human. To become God’s friend, you have to listen to his voice and obey him Genesis 22:18 “and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me”. Therefore Brethren, you really need to obey God if you are needed to become his friend.
